SURVEY TECHNICIAN (I, II, Senior)

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Survey Technician, you will support Project Managers, Project Surveyors, and cross‑functional team members with CAD drafting, data processing, and map preparation. You will work on a broad range of assignments requiring knowledge of land surveying, mapping, and geospatial workflows.

Daily Activities

· Take direction and collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Project Surveyors, and team members.

· Maintain current knowledge of surveying methods, best practices, and procedures.

· Compile, interpret, and verify field-collected data into a CAD environment using tools such as Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil3D, and MicroStation.

· Analyze data and prepare reports, exhibits, field packages, and other documentation for diverse surveying and geospatial tasks.

· Create topographic maps and digital terrain models (DTMs).

· Conduct research with local and state agencies.

· Apply proficient knowledge of Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil3D, and MicroStation.

· Learn new processes, terminology, and regulations related to LiDAR point clouds and other survey data formats.

· Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) on project data and deliverables before internal or client submittal.

· Work collaboratively in a team environment; assist coworkers and take direction as needed.

· Support a variety of project types across transportation, energy, utilities, commercial development, and more.

· Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professionalism

Standards & Quality

· Adhere to surveying procedures, standards, and QC protocols (e.g., control establishment, instrument checks, field notes, metadata).

· Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on project data, drawings, and deliverables prior to internal review or client submission.

· Validate completeness and accuracy of field documentation (daily reports, photo logs, sketches, point descriptions).

· Partner with office staff to reconcile field/office discrepancies and support final deliverables (plats, base maps, surfaces, alignments).

QUALIFICATIONS

· 2-3+ years of land surveying field experience.

· Strong technical proficiency with Civil3D and/or MicroStation.

· Understanding of land surveying principles, data interpretation, and mapping workflows.

· Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies, processes, and project requirements.

· Highly organized, professional, and capable of juggling multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

· Excellent teamwork and communication skills
