GUIDA provided surveying services for a 1.2-mile drill and blast excavation for a 12-foot-diameter tunnel utilizing lasers and total station survey equipment. The 5,800-foot-long tunnel required two laser stations and a high accuracy total station for survey control. Specific surveying services included establishing horizontal and vertical controls based on the construction plans, construction computations and staking for the pipeline and appurtenances and other site improvements, identifying survey monuments that would be affected by construction and providing monument preservation and perpetuation of these monuments before and after construction, and identifying the right of way limits of the project as a guide for the contractor. The GUIDA team brought specialized experience with high accuracy surveying and precise leveling to this project.
