South Coast Water District, Laguna Beach Tunnel Phase 2 3D Scanning

GUIDA provided 3D scanning (LiDAR) of a 9-foot diameter water line tunnel within the bluffs in Laguna Beach. South Coast Water District performed improvements to the water pipeline tunnel and had concerns that the construction improvements would negatively affect the bluffs and nearby residential homes. In addition, the location of the pipeline was not previously surveyed, so this survey also Utilizing terrestrial LiDAR methods, GUIDA developed an as-built survey of the 9-foot diameter water line. GUIDA'S field crews entered the pipeline at one of the ADITs and traversed through the pipe and scanned the interior for approximately 2-miles of pipeline. A final alignment was developed in AutoCAD Civil3D along with an as built drawing of the size of the pipeline and clearances to other features and elements.
